Where is Chevy Made & Who Makes Chevy Vehicles?

2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

We often get questions from Oceanside drivers regarding who makes Chevy, and if you didn’t know, Chevy is a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation (GM). GM was founded and remains in Michigan. You may remember hearing about the industry boom in Detroit in the early and mid-20th century. Nowadays, GM is a multinational company with operations in 35 different countries.

Now other questions: where are Chevy trucks made, and where are sedans made? What about the parts? Well, there will be different answers to this question depending on which model you are looking for. Explore the question, “Is Chevy American?”, with the team at Quality Chevrolet below.

Where Are Chevy Trucks Made? Sedans? SUVs?

There are 20 Chevy assembly plants throughout the United States’ Midwest and Southern regions. They’re located in:

  • Flint, Michigan
  • Lake Orion, Michigan
  • Lansing, Michigan
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Arlington, Texas
  • Roanoke, Indiana
  • Wentzville, Missouri
  • Bowling Green, Kentucky
  • Spring Hill, Tennessee
  • Kansas City, Kansas

Where are Chevy Trucks Made? Well, your Chevy Colorado was put together in the Missouri plant, but the Silverado 1500 is produced in Roanoke, Indiana. If you are interested in an SUV, the Suburban and Tahoe are built in the Texas plant.

Who Makes Chevy Parts?

When it comes to the parts that make up your Poway vehicle, is Chevy American? You may be happy to know that GM parts are predominantly made at GMC owned-facilities and 38 other independent companies, all of which are located in the U.S.

That said, GM is partnered with five Mexican companies, four Japanese Companies, three from Canada and Brazil, two in South Korea and France, and with individual partners in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Hungary, India, and Thailand. That is to say that Chevy is a global company with a global market, but contributing directly to the U.S. economy by continuing to build factories on home soil remains a priority.
